Student Photographer of the Year Scholarship

Application Deadline - March 20, 2010

The Professional Photographers of Washington is pleased to announce that applications are available for the 2009 Student Photographer of the Year Award, which is open to all high school seniors in Washington State, graduating in the year 2010. The winning student will receive a scholarship grant to be used to further the applicant’s study in the photographic arts.

A panel of photographers who are members of the Professional Photographers of Washington will select the finalists. The Student Photographer of the Year will be chosen based upon photographic and scholastic achievements and the student’s wish to continue their studies in the photographic arts.

The Professional Photographers of Washington was founded in 1952, “To create, foster and promote the exchange of thoughts and ideas freely, among photographers, so as to advance the art and profession of photography” and is an affiliate organization of the Professional Photographers of America.

2009 Scholarship Winner

Daniel Jones

 

Daniel Jones of Inglemoor High School is the 2009 Student Photographer of the Year. Daniel is graduating in 2010 and was selected from applications submitted by student photographers representing schools throughout Washington State.

Daniel received a $2000 Scholarship grant, which will be used to further his studies in the college of his choice.

2008 Scholarship Winners

 


Isabel Landgrave


Rachel Slagle

 

Rachel Slagle of White Pass High School and Isabel Landgrave of Issaquah High School are the award winners. Rachel and Isabel are both seniors graduating in 2008 and were selected from applications submitted by student photographers representing schools throughout Washington State.

Rachel and Isabel each received a $1000 Scholarship grant, which will be used to further their study in the photographic arts.

2007 Scholarship Winner

 

David Kasnic of Wenatchee High School (Wenatchee) was the recipient of the 2007 Student Photographer of the Year Scholarship Award. David chose Evergreen College for the scholarship.


2006 Scholarship Winner

 

Janine Morris of Shorecrest High School (Lake Forest Park) was the recipient of the 2006 Student Photographer of the Year Scholarship Award. Janine continued her studies at Fairhaven College at Western Washington University.



2005 Scholarship Winner

 

Daniel Hilden of Mount Vernon High School was the recipient of the 2005 Student Photographer of the Year Scholarship Award. Daniel chose Evergreen State College.


 

2004 Scholarship Winner

 

Allison Lewis of South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard WA was the 2004 winner of the PPW Scholarship. Allison chose Montana State University, specializing in applied photography, art photography and emerging photographic technologies.

 

2003 Scholarship Winner

 

Austin Alcorn Peterson of Stadium High School in Tacoma was awarded the 2003 Student Photographer of the Year Scholarship. Austin chose to apply his scholarship to the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.
