Taking Steps to
Inspire, Equip and
Educate Today's Photographers

Education is the key to PPW!

We have several events yearly that offer incredible speakers on various topics to help the professional photographer.

The Spring Educational Conference is around April and provides the association's members an event to come together to enjoy old and new friends. Before this event our Annual Print Competition takes place. Hired judges are brought in to judge and critique our images with the 12 Elements of Merited Print as a guide.

We hold another event around October to give a stimulating break from the photographer's busy season of High School seniors and families, for example.

During the year, each PPW District holds meetings four times a year in the their area. To learn about these events besides here on our website, The Washington Photographer Journal comes out four times a year. Within the pages of the journal, you will also learn about the workings of PPW and informational articles about our industry.

Involvement improves your business. Here are a few ways to do this:

Lightroom is more than a powerful tool in the photographers toolbox; it can be the toolbox. From file management, sorting, and raw image processing to one button exporting, composite layouts and printing, Lightroom can help anyone increase productivity, efficiency, and consistency.

In this intermediate class, Forrest Cooper will guide you through the Lightroom work-flow that has helped him create quality images in a full service studio environment. Within this workflow he will also show you how Lightroom and Photoshop work together seamlessly.

Step out of the darkroom and into Lightroom with this full day PPW program.

Little bit about the instructor: Forrest Cooper and his wife Amy own Cooper Studios in the heart of downtown Shelton, WA. Their focus on the Fine Art Portrait from start to finish has carried their business forward for almost a decade. With the motto: Shoot • Print • Frame, the Coopers not only capture images in studio but also create finished portraits within their in-house print and custom frame shop. Forrest invites you to join him for an in-depth look at how Lightroom has changed his work-flow and has become an invaluable part of his business.
