President's Message |
Mike Busby, M.Photog, CPP, FP | Hello everyone and welcome! It’s been a joy for me to be part of PPW and to be part of all the changes we have walked through together over the past year. That said, I acknowledge that it has been a tough and challenging year as well, but for PPW it was a year of finding direction and growth. Your PPW Executive Board meets every month. This enables the board to make decisions and move forward with routine business, while preparing and informing the entire Board for the big decisions. It means we’re able to address and resolve issues quickly as they come up and be more efficient. The PPW Marketing Committee has been meeting once a week since August of last year. This year PPW has some 30+ events planned or in the works. This doesn’t include PPA Super One days or any of the events the District Reps may schedule. There is a lot of prep work involved, including branding for each event and then scheduled for advertising and social media posting. The Marketing Committee meets often to stay on task and to ensure we stay on schedule. The District Reps are coming together. We now have reps in every state district. It was difficult to give them direction last year as the Executive Board was figuring out direction for the entire organization as well as navigating things related to Covid. Through all of that, we now have a clearer direction and we’ll be seeing more community events where people in your area will physically get together for informal and fun meets. All of our groups are finding their identities as teams. Yes, we have assigned roles, but board members are bringing their issues to the group for discussions and advice. We are stronger together, we get inspired, and then we come to consensus and support each other. How does this add value to the PPW membership is our guiding principle. We recognize that we answer to each member, but more importantly, we are building the organization for all members in PPW. Education, Inspiration, and Community are more than just words, they are the defining categories we use to structure the organization and creating events. I want to give a sincere thank you to our predecessors. PPW has been able to move forward because you have built a strong foundation. We are strong financially and with our By-Laws, Policies and Procedures. This has come from a lot of work over a long period of time, and everyone has contributed to our continued success And lastly, a few thoughts on change. We have a good direction, things are being put into place and are moving forward, but we are also growing and stretching. That means not everything is perfect and that we have a few things to still figure out. So, we ask for a little patience of you, as a member, bump into an issue and call PPW if you need help. It’s our intention that everyone succeeds and we’re more than happy to help you out. Mike Busby, PPW President Mike Busby |
